Chances are if you've ever had a bad sun burn you've used aloe vera to help ease the pain. Although it plays a pretty big part in modern day life the history and benefits of aloe vera are often over looked by many people who use it.

Aloe vera is actually one of the oldest medical plants in documented human history. It has been traced back to the height of Egyptian days where it played a huge part in medical treatments. You can even find this plant earlier in history as there are many mentions of its qualities in the first ever documented medical book that dates to 1,550 B.C!

Apart from being one of the oldest plants in the history of medical science, it is also one of the most durable. At first, people believed that the plant could only grow in warm places because it originated in Africa, but since the plant has been moved to many different places around the world. As long as you can provide it some form of warmth then this plant will thrive. This makes aloe vera a great indoor plant that is easy to care for in most households.

As far as medical principles, aloe vera is historically documented as a cure for worms in human, liver problems and reproduction difficulties. In today's society we mostly use it for skin conditions, such as allergic rashes or sunburns. It has also been known to help with respiratory problem, joint health and a large selection of other health problems that are currently under research for further understanding.

Although aloe vera is known as a great healer, many scientist tend to overlook its healing properties. In fact, until recently most medical facilities had dismissed research on this plant and disputed ancient uses of the plant. Now, this plant is undergoing many studies, but is still being put on the back burner when it comes to studies of major ailments.

If you've never tried using aloe vera you might want to grab a bottle of gel for yourself and see how great it makes your skin feel after a day at the beach. This plant can even save you money thanks to its easy to maintain properties that can have you growing your own plant in no time.
